VISITING THE CHURCH
St Mary’s Church is unfortunately kept locked except when a service or other event is taking place – see our Service page, News or other Events. We are very sorry that this is the case, but if you would like to see in the Church at any other time please contact our Rector on 01444 811249, Church Wardens (01444 811304/01444 811739) or our Administrator (01444 811699) to arrange an appointment at a mutually convenient time or through the Contact Form.
The Church has a loop system for use during services/events and also disabled access for wheelchairs can be made available. There is one toilet adjoining the Church which is unlocked during services/events. There is a short walk from the nearest parking, which is available in the lay-by adjoining the road as you enter or leave the village. The Churchyard can be accessed via steps from the road or using the pathway (with no steps, but a gentle incline) via the lych-gate. The lay-by near the lych-gate is for disabled parking only when services or an event are in progress.
Information on the history of the Church is available within and on some of the events and people associated with the Church. There is also information on the Church’s organisations and activities in the Porch (always open) and within the Church.
VISITING THE VILLAGE
Balcombe Village is located close to the M23 motorway and is on the mainline rail service from London to Brighton benefiting from its own station. The Church is located on the northern edge of the Village, but it is in easy walking distance of the centre of the Village. If you are visiting and want to enjoy some refreshments you will find a welcome at the Half Moon Public House (owned by the community) or the Balcombe Tea Rooms or just pop into the Village Stores. Balcombe is popular for walkers being on the edge of some beautiful countryside.
For more information about our village see the Balcombe parish website here
