This is a list of some of our parish events - past and in the future.
Friday 11th we had our Parish Outing to Clarence House and Buckingham Palace. It was a wonderful warm day and we thoroughly enjoyed our visits to Clarence House and Buckingham Palace. We were able to view the gorgeous state apartments, and this year's exhibition featuring the gifts HM The Queen had recevied from citizens of the UK, and all over the world. We finished with a tour of the private part of Buckingham Palace garden, and had tea on the terrace.
Sunday 13th Parish BBQ Farewell at the Cricket Field where the community said goodbye Rev Desmond and Mrs Pennie Burton. We had a glorious day and a wondeful turn out. Entertainment from The Paul Richards Trio set the scene with a background of jazz and we all enjoyed a marvellous spread provided by the members of St Mary's. The great turn out was driven by the opportunity for the community to say farewell to Desmond and Pennie who will be very much missed. There were speeches of appreciation, cards written by the community and a selection of Harveys beer with goodies for Desmond and flowers for Pennie!
Sunday 3rd - Family Service. Final service for Rev. Desmond and Mrs Pennie Burton.
The church was packed with many people wishing to be part of Desmond and Pennie's last service. It was a very special, and sad, occasion The choir sang lovely anthems and with a wondeful cello accompaniment. We finished with the presentations of gifts followed by cake and Bucks fizz. We will all miss Desmond and Pennie very much and send our love and all best wishes for a happy retirement.
Harvest Festival and Lunch - Sunday 1st October at 10am. Harvest Festival will be celebrated at St Mary’s during the Family Service. After the service, we will celebrate with a light “Pot Luck” lunch. Please bring along a dish of finger food (sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls etc.) and these will be combined and arranged at the back of the church to make a “Bountiful Buffet” for all to enjoy.
Mothers' Union Harvest Lunch - Thurs 12th Oct at 1.45pm in the Parish Room. We will be raising money for the ‘Eastbourne Contact Centre’ and the ‘Away From It All’ caravan holidays. All will be very welcome to join us for a delicious lunch of homemade soup and apple crumble.Tickets are £6 from Lorna Robinson.
