Children and Youth

Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Matthew 19 v14

St. Marys offers a range of activities and groups for children and a youth group known as Locus. We have an active role in our village church school.

Our Sunday Services

Children and families are welcome at all our services.

We have a play area at the back of the church with toys and books.

The First Sunday of the Month is a family service - this is a family friendly and relaxed service. Find dates here

Our choir and bellringers are always happy to welcome younger members. Read more here

Baby and Toddler Group

A lively group where parents and carers can bring their babys and toddlers to meet and enjoy playing together. We have both indoor and outdoor play areas.

Refreshments are provided for the children, and tea/coffee for parents and carers (please bring a travel cup with a lid as it helps keep the children safe!)

This is in the Parish Room, Stockcroft Road

Thursdays 9.30-11.30 during term time

£4 donation is welcome to cover our costs

Coffee +

Coffee + is for everyone and we have a children's play area. It is lovely to see children playing in the church.

This is in the church during term times.

Mondays 9.30-11am

Locus Youth Club

The St Mary's Youth Club, Locus, is open for children aged 11 to 14+ and meets first Friday of the month.

We mostly meet in the Parish Room, where we enjoy indoor activities, including cooking, table tennis and craft making, and have parties.

In the summer time we may go for walks around the lake or play tennis or other games at the recreation ground. We also have excursions, such as paddle boarding (see main picture), camping, paint balling and bowling.

Pathfinders After School Club

This is an after school club at village primary school, for children in year 1 and above (although if your child is keen to join us please contact us - see below)

We enjoy craft and games both inside and outdoors - "the children have fun learning about stories from the bible, Christian festivals and develop a greater understanding of core Christian values. The club is run by a member of the church and is well attended." (From school website)

Mondays 3.15-4.15

Open The Book

This is a Bible society initiative to tell bible stories in a fun way to primary school children. We lead the school’s assembly alternate weeks.

A team from the church take character parts along with some of the children each time. A narrator tells the story while it is being acted out. The children love to join in.

We added some of these stories to our YouTube channel after the covid pandemic. We hope you enjoy watching them as they are still available - here

Fr David is also involved in leading school assemblies and collective worship. The church takes and active role in school life.

Open the Book is very much enjoyed by the children - read more on the school website
